Product description: The practice of decorating an elephant is a customary practice for many Emperors as it represented their status and influence. The decoration was as elaborate as that of the Emperor. Therefore, they had many ornaments worn in different parts of the body, starting from the head to the toe. The elephant’s back was covered with “Jhul” a carpet-like large rectangular cloth, which was flung down on both sides of the animal. The set of brass elephants has beautiful engravings of flower, animals and birds on their back cloth, and they stand with their trunks raised which is considered to be auspicious. A big flower is present on the center of the back cloth with engravings of animals and birds namely lion, deer, elephant, parrot, swan and peacock seen on both sides of the cloth. The forehead, ears, and the toes of the statues are adorned with elegant ornaments. In Hindu mythology, the elephants are associated with many deities like Lord Ganesha, and Lord Indra and Goddess Gajalakshmi who used an elephant as their Vahana. The worshipping of an elephant known as “Gajapuja” is celebrated in a ceremonious way like a festival. Decorated elephants are therefore a well defined art, and a beautiful decor that matches with any of your interior accessories.
