Product description: Dakshinamoorthy is one of the forms of Lord Shiva. This form of Shiva sits under the Banyan tree facing the South direction. This form represents Shiva as a teacher of all types of knowledge, especially of yoga, yogic state of meditation. The brass statue of Dakshinamoorthy portrays Shiva seated on a deer hide throne under the Banyan tree surrounded by sages who are receiving his instruction. He is seated with his right foot placed on the demon Apasmara (personification of ignorance), and his left foot is folded and placed on his right lap. The right hand of Shiva shows Gyan Mudra (Jnana mudra) which is the mudra of knowledge, and his left hand holds leaf scriptures. Thursdays are usually considered auspicious, and Guru Poornima is the most appropriate time to do special worship services to Dakshinamoorthy Shiva.
