Product description: Lord Hari-Hara (Shankaranarayana) - A composite deity of Shiva and Vishnu: Harihara is the Hindu God, a powerful amalgamation of the supreme Gods Shiva and Vishnu. Shiva, the destroyer of evil and Vishnu, the protector of the Universe combine together and took this avatar to destroy the demon Guhasura who got the boon from Brahma, that he should be invincible to humans, Hari or Hara or Devas. Hence the supreme Gods combined as Hari-Hara, overpowered the demon and slayed him. Hari-Hara is also called Shankaranarayana; Shankar means Shiva, and Narayana means Vishnu. Hari-Hara worship is common among the Hindus, mostly among the Shaivites and Vaishnavites community, and in countries like India, Cambodia and Nepal. The famous Sri Shankaranarayana temple is in Udupi district, Karnataka, India.
The brass statue portrays Hari-Hara on an inverted lotus which intern is placed on a square pedestal. The right side of the statue is Lord shiva, and left side is Lord Vishnu. The rear hand of Shiva holds an axe, and his front hand is in Abhaya mudra. The hands of Vishnu holds a conch, and a mace. The iconographical attributes of both Gods are clearly distinguished with respect to their clothing, hair style and ornaments. The statue is indeed beautiful in a greenish brown hue with the details of the supreme Gods clearly defined.
