Product description: Matangi is one of the ten tantric goddesses in Hinduism called Dasa Mahavidyas (Ten great wisdoms), a group of powerful and revered deities. Matangi is the goddess of inner wisdom, and associated with music and learning, and mastery over other art forms. As one of the Mahavidyas, Mathangi represents the power of transformation and the breaking of conventional boundaries to attain higher wisdom. The bronze statue depicts Matangi seated in laitasana pose with 8 arms. Each arm holds a divine object including a goad, pasha (noose), a lotus, a sugarcane, two parrots, and her front hand holds a veena (musical instrument) which shows her association with Goddess Saraswati. The crescent moon on her crown symbolizes Shiva, and that she is the divine form of Shakti. The face of Matangi has a pleasant smiling expression, her gaze is calm and captivating, and appear as though she is looking beyond the physical realm. Adorned with elaborate jewelries and fine detailed clothing, she has a well defined form that exhibits both strength and femininity. The arch has fine intricate details with the kirtimukha face atop is said to be sacred and serve as a symbol of protection, and is removable from the statue base. The statue of Panchaloha Matangi is one of a kind statue made using the lost-wax method; an expert craftsmanship by our South Indian bronze artisan.
