Product description: Bhikshatana Shiva is a form where Shiva appears as a naked mendicant and wandered all over the world asking for alms, due to the sinful act of severing Brahma's fifth head. Some believe that Lord Shiva in Bhikshatana form roams around the world observing people in different walks of their life. This form of Shiva is very popular in Chola art, one of the famous form of Lord Shiva that does not have any temples or place of worship. Bhikshatana Shiva emphasizes the importance of humility, generosity, and recognizing the divine presence in all beings, regardless of their appearance. Shiva in this form holds an alms bowl which symbolizes his renunciation of material wealth and attachment to worldly possessions.

The bronze  statue portrays Shiva with all the iconographical attributes of Bhikshatana form with matted locks of hair, river Ganges tied to his hair bun, serpents tied around his waist and other parts of body, and holding a damaru, alms bowl, and feeding a dog. The face of Shiva is depicted with a gentle smile, that is characterized by a profound sense of calmness and tranquility. His third eye, a symbol of wisdom and insight is subtly engraved on his forehead, and he is wearing  Padukas (footwear) or wooden sandals which is rarely seen in the other forms of Shiva. The overall statue is finely chiseled, from the flowing locks of hair to the serene expression, the statue of Bhikshatna Shiva is a mesmerizing display of divine grace and cosmic power. The antique patina adds depth to the artwork, giving it an aged and timeless appearance. The statue of Bhikshatana Shiva is one of a kind statue made with amazing details using the lost-wax method; an expert craftsmanship by our South Indian bronze artisan.
