Product description: Skanda is the son of Lord Shiva and the name Skanda means “attacker”. He is referred to as the Hindu God of war, and has many weapons namely Vel, sword, javelin and a bow. Skanda was born from Lord Shiva’s seed when dropped into River Ganges by Agni; He was born to destroy the demon Taraka, who had been granted a boon that he could be destroyed only by the son of Lord Shiva. The wood panel depicts Skanda in a standing posture inside a kirtimukha arch with his vahana the peacock behind him. He is adorned with beautiful ornaments and a flower garland. The right hand of Skanda is in blessing pose with his palm facing outwards, and the symbol Tamil OM is engraved on his palm. The weapon Vel is placed on his right, and positioned diagonal to his body while the left hand is rested on his hip. The wood carving of Skanda best illustrates the fine workmanship by our team of artists. Wall hanging hardware attached to panel.
