Product description: The Bhagavad Gita is a part of the popularly known epic Mahabharata that describes the war between the Pandavas (Warrior Prince Arjuna and family) and the Kauravas ( Warrior Prince Duryodhana and family) on the battlefield of Kuru-kshetra. The Gita is the discourse given by Lord Krishna to his disciple Arjuna just before the war is about to begin, and the wood panel depicts the scene of Lord Krishna’s upadesam (teachings) to warrior Arjuna on the battlefield. The centerpiece of the carving showcases a beautifully designed chariot, and Lord Krishna is the charioteer seated with one of his hands holding on to the five horses, and his right hand blessing Arjuna. Arjuna is seated inside the chariot bowing to the lord and listening to his teachings. The armies of elephants, and a knight are present at the two ends of the panel, with an undulating terrain carved into the wood to create a sense of depth and realism. The elephants, the horses, and the miniature soldiers are carved with precision to bring out the fine details. The wood carving serves as a testament to the skill and artistry of both our artist and woodcarver, who expertly translated the energy and emotion of the war scene using the solid medium of wood.
