Product description: Skanda is the son of Lord Shiva and the name Skanda means “attacker”. He is referred to as the Hindu God of war, and has many weapons namely Vel, sword, javelin and a bow. Skanda was born from Lord Shiva’s seed when dropped into River Ganges by Agni; He was born to destroy the demon Taraka who had been granted a boon that he could be destroyed only by the son of Lord Shiva.
The wood panel depicts Skanda in a standing posture inside a prabhavali (arch) with a kirtimukha atop, along with the two makaras (Sea dragon) at the sides of the arch, and two Lions in the pillars. Skanda is adorned with beautiful ornaments, and a flower garland, and his vahana the peacock is seen standing behind him. The right hand of Skanda shows abhaya, and the Tamil alphabet OM is engraved on his palm. The weapon Vel is placed on his right, and positioned diagonal to his body while the left hand rests on his waist, a typical pose of Lord Murugan. The wood panel of Skanda is indeed beautiful illustrating the iconic attributes of Skanda, and the fine workmanship by our team of artists. Wall hanging hardware is attached to the panel.
