Thiruvannamalai Annamalaiyar - Lord Annamalaiyar, also known as Lord Arunachalesvara, is a prominent deity in Hinduism who is worshipped primarily in the town of Tiruvannamalai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Shiva is worshiped as Arunachalesvara or Annamalaiyar, and is represented by the Lingam referred to as Jyothi Lingam or Agni Lingam. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Annamalaiyar represents the element of fire and is believed to have appeared as a column of fire in order to settle a dispute between Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, and Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. This incident is known as the "Arunachala Mahatmyam" and is considered significant in Shaivism. The name "Annamalaiyar" means "Lord of Annamalai," referring to the Annamalai Hill on which the famous Annamalaiyar Temple is located. Lord Annamalaiyar is revered as a powerful deity for his divine attributes, who grants his devotees their wishes, and blesses them with spiritual growth. The temple is one of the largest and most ancient Shiva temples in India and attracts a large number of devotees and pilgrims from around the world. The town of Tiruvannamalai is a significant pilgrimage site, and the annual festival of "Karthigai Deepam" is celebrated with great enthusiasm, during which a massive lamp is lit atop the Annamalai Hill called the “Thiruvannamalai Jyoti” symbolizing the divine light of Lord Shiva.
